Post-Publication Discussion Policy

AKUBIS: Akuntansi dan Bisnis Pelita Bangsa is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, integrity, and reliability of the scholarly record. The journal encourages constructive academic discussion and critical evaluation of published articles. Post-publication discussions are conducted in accordance with the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Purpose and Scope

This policy provides opportunities for readers, researchers, authors, and members of the academic community to submit scholarly comments, questions, clarifications, or evidence-based concerns regarding articles published in AKUBIS.

Post-publication discussion aims to promote academic dialogue, improve research quality, clarify scientific findings, and ensure the continued integrity of published research.

2. Forms of Post-Publication Discussion

AKUBIS welcomes the following forms of post-publication scholarly communication:

  • Letters to the Editor: Scholarly comments, questions, or critical evaluations concerning published research.
  • Author Responses: Responses or clarifications provided by the original authors concerning comments raised about their published articles.
  • Scholarly Commentary: Constructive discussions regarding research methodologies, findings, interpretations, and implications.
  • Reports of Errors: Notifications concerning factual, analytical, methodological, or bibliographic errors identified after publication.
  • Research Integrity Concerns: Evidence-based concerns regarding plagiarism, data manipulation, inappropriate authorship, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or other potential violations of publication ethics.

3. Submission of Comments and Concerns

Readers and researchers who wish to initiate a post-publication discussion may contact the AKUBIS editorial office through the journal's official contact page.

Submissions should include:

  1. The title, author(s), and DOI or URL of the published article.
  2. A clear description of the comment, question, criticism, or concern.
  3. Supporting evidence, relevant references, or documentation where applicable.
  4. The submitter's name, institutional affiliation, and contact information.
  5. A declaration of any relevant conflicts of interest.

Submissions must use respectful, professional, and evidence-based language. Personal attacks, discriminatory statements, unsupported allegations, and irrelevant or promotional content will not be considered for public scholarly discussion.

Reports of possible research misconduct may be assessed confidentially, including reports submitted anonymously when they contain specific and verifiable evidence.

4. Editorial Assessment

All post-publication submissions will be reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief or designated editorial team members.

The editorial assessment may include:

  • Evaluation of the relevance, clarity, and academic significance of the comment.
  • Verification of supporting evidence and relevant documentation.
  • Consultation with independent experts or reviewers when necessary.
  • Communication with the corresponding author of the original article.
  • Assessment of whether further editorial action is required.

The editorial team reserves the right to decline comments that do not meet academic, ethical, or professional standards.

5. Author Response and Right of Reply

When substantive comments or criticisms are considered relevant, the editorial team may invite the original authors to provide a written response or clarification.

Authors will be given a reasonable opportunity to respond to the issues raised. The editorial team may request additional documentation or supporting evidence where necessary.

Where appropriate, accepted scholarly comments and author responses may be published as formal correspondence or linked to the original article.

6. Corrections, Expressions of Concern, and Retractions

If a post-publication discussion identifies significant errors or concerns regarding the validity, reliability, or integrity of a published article, AKUBIS will evaluate the matter in accordance with its Correction and Retraction Policy and relevant COPE guidance.

Depending on the findings, editorial actions may include:

  • Publication of a correction or clarification notice.
  • Publication of an expression of concern when serious issues remain unresolved.
  • Retraction of an article when its findings are unreliable or serious ethical violations are established.
  • Referral of suspected research misconduct to the relevant institution or authority when further investigation is required.

Any formal correction or retraction will be clearly identified and linked to the original publication to preserve the transparency of the scholarly record.

7. Transparency and Confidentiality

AKUBIS is committed to handling all post-publication discussions fairly, objectively, and consistently. Editorial decisions will be based on scholarly evidence and publication ethics rather than personal, institutional, or commercial interests.

Confidential information relating to research participants, complainants, authors, reviewers, or investigations will be protected as appropriate.

Editors involved in a conflict of interest concerning a post-publication case must disclose the conflict and recuse themselves from the decision-making process when necessary.

8. Editorial Decisions and Publication

The editorial team will determine whether a submitted scholarly comment warrants publication, further review, an author response, or another editorial action.

Accepted comments and responses may be made publicly accessible through the journal platform, subject to editorial assessment and applicable publication procedures.

AKUBIS will maintain appropriate records of post-publication concerns, editorial assessments, communications, and resulting decisions.
